Gelatos card

Craft break, that's what I really needed with all the stress inside the hospital. So with the lenten season, I promised myself craft healing. Meaning, rejuvinating myself through crafts that I missed doing since the start of the year.

I challenged myself to make at least one project in one og the foloowing craft categories: paper craft, needle felting, beading

Here's my entry to the paper craft.  Wait for my other projects.

Here I used my gelatos not only for the amber background but also for the shading and color of the towers. I regretted though me outlining the towers since I think the one without the outline looked better.

Playing with soft pastel

This will be the first time I'll ever use a soft pastel. I looked all over the net to get inspirations. But I guess the artist in me is still sleeping or lazy.

I told myself I'll do something artsy today. I bought these soft pastels from Daiso, I didn't know why I bought it probably one of my shopping impulses again.

I guess I just wanted to play w/ soft pastels, so I just did whatever I want with it, not knowing how to use them in the first place. I just colored them like what I remember in one of art attack's episodes. It kind of looked like chalk art though.

For this project I thought I'd use a black base card.

Materials:
Black cardstock
Soft pastels
Pencil

1. First thing I did was to draw my image into the card.

2. Color with soft pastels
3. Line with silver pen.

I know, this is not the way to handle soft pastels, but like I said, I just wanted to do something without worrying if I did the techniques right. Let it go! As the song went.

Lessons learned:
1. If you have no plans of smudging the pastels, don't erase your pencil drawings, it will mark like the moon in this card.
2. This is a messy project, be sure you work in a place you're allowed to make a mess.
3. Watch videos or read on it when you want to try something new.

Toothless Corner Bookmark

Have you seen the new sequel of How to Train your Dragon? OMG!!! It's sooo amazing!!!

I promised I would make a craft related to the movie. Here it is:

Materials you'll need:
1. Cardstock: black, green, pink, red
2. Glue/ glue tape/ glue stick
3. Cutter
4. Scissors
5. Printer
6. Colored pens, pencils, correction fluid

I created a template for this, which I will upload later.

Get your black cardstock and use the template to cut out the shape. (Sorry, I left the black cardstock in the locker in the hospital, so I just colored the paper black w/ black pentel pen)

After coloring, I cut out 2.5 x 2.5 inch squate from pink cardstock. I cut iut the eyes in green cardstock also.
After which, you can paste the eyes.
I drew some more details and colored the eyes w/ colored pencils and pens
Add more detail like scales. Tongue shading, ears etc.
Here's the finished product!
Til next project!

Craft of the Day - Get Well Soon Owl Card

As I went home, I saw my old color pencils, and thought, I missed working with them. I think the last time I used them was when I was still in highschool.

So I grabbed them and tried a craft for it. My mom saw me,
"Ano ginagawa mo?" (What are you doing?)
"Nagcocolor" (coloring)
"Maniwala ako sayo, hindi ka mabait para magcolor lang, may gagawin ka pa diyan" (I don't believe you, you're not that behaved to just color, you'll do something else with it)

Hahaha
That's what they say, you're mom knows you too well.

Materials I used for this project:
Faber-Castell watercolour pencils
Cardstock: cream, pink, red
Artline pigment ink 0.2 black
Glue tape
Cutter
Q-tips
Water
Eraser
Printer

1. First I printed out an owl image from the net. (Drawing is not one of my talents and rubber stamps are not available as of the moment)
2. I colored the image with watercolor pencils
3. After finishing the image, I used a Q-tip wet with water and smudge the watercolor pencils.

4. Then I cut out scalloped rectangle to mount the owl and flag from red cardstock

5. And stick them all together. Put your message and drew some corner swirls using artline pen. And here's the finished product!

Upcycled coupon

My hands were itching the past weeks to make something. With lots of hospital responsibilities and studying, there really is no time to make crafts.

Now, I can't take it anymore, I have to make something. So I had a craft break, to keep myself sane.

Here, I used McDonald's coupon and made a bookmark out of it. Upcycled! Woohoo!

Now I can use it in my MD Anderson book

Hot Air Balloon Lantern

My mom & I went to Divisoria, to buy some fabric for my dad's coat & tie.  Always a lot of people in Divisoria regardless whether weekdays or weekends.  But more people on weekends.  We went into a store selling party goodies, then I saw this:
I couldn't resist buying one for myself! =D When I got home, I showed it to my dad, he was very happy with it in fact, he asked that when we get back to Divisoria to buy a few more.  I think he'll use it to decorate around the house this christmas.

The drawback on this lantern is that it's made of paper, Paper lanterns don't last that long & you can use it on covered rooms/areas since it wouldn't be able to withstand the rain. I wish I know some electronics or something, i sure would want to have a light bulb inside this lantern.
