The Blog Project

This is to answer the questions I get asked such as:
  • For every blog I post, I sometimes get comments like, "Are you a doctor or what?"
  • Your blogs are full of makeup, so little about medicine
  • Why do you blog?
For those who knew me, this blog has been here since I think 2009 and at first blogging has been just a past time, something I tried and enjoyed doing.  I was not serious about this blogging thing.

So what made me blog more often this year?  For those who were my loyal readers, aka family and friends, I went into depression.  Not that serious to the point of taking medicine, but I know it's not ordinary sadness either.  And when you're depressed you're alone in that battle.  Not because you don't have friends or family who cares for you, but because you yourself would not want to burden them of your disease.  And most of them wouldn't even know how to handle someone with depression.

Blogging was my new year resolution for 2017.  I tried some activities to uplift my own spirit when I was depressed and that included applying makeup.  Blogging is also one of those activities I thought could help me.  Of course to start this project being a resident is not easy since this takes your supposedly "rest" time.  But I knew this project would help me.  And I'm glad I stood by that decision because a lot of times when I'm sad I blog to feel better.

The reason why this was called  a project and not just any ordinary journaling, is because, this has a specific goal.  A total of 10 posts per month.  How did I come up with 10? Well there are 30 days in a month and I go every 3 days duty, and I've set to write posts everytime I'm "from" status. And I think I've achieved that, except for certain months, when I allow myself not to complete the 10 like in-service exams, outside rotation etc.

Why I post a lot about makeup?  Well because I'm still a resident, and while you're still in training, someone holds your life, in my case, my consultants and UST itself.  So whenever I post about medicine, I have to be really really careful, because this blog is public, and patients and other people can read about whatever is in here, and what may be "ok" for me may not be ok for my superiors.  And I might get into trouble with it, which I don't like to happen.  So I decided to write about a topic that's also close to my heart like medicine, but politically neutral in the world of healthcare.  My opinions about a makeup products will not affect my training either positively or negatively.

Why not post about art or crafting? After all this is "artsymed" - well, my answer to that is crafting takes time, I tend to spend a lot of hours in crafting and I don't like to feel guilty that I'm spending a lot of time in it that I have less time with my training.

So did this project worked for you? - Yes! I think it helped me a ton in my road to battling depression.    And it feels really good when I get reactions from my readers like, "You're helping us a lot, I'm learning a lot about makeup from your posts.", "You're helping me in a way that I know what to buy and what not to buy." And I was surprised that I even have male readers.  I get questions like, "Do you have a new post? It's a feel good read." And I've seen my blog grow, I started with only 20 readers and now my readers grow everyday.

Now I'm asking myself, will I continue posting? To tell you the truth, I don't know, this started as  a year project and now that it's coming to an end I'm not sure if I'll continue or not.  If I'll have time to continue or not? My heart knew I should continue this, it helped a lot in my self-development path and in maintaining positivity in a world full  of negativity.  But I have to think and plan about this, since next year is the time to add focus on my training.

And to all my readers, I from the bottom of my heart thank you all for supporting this project of mine.  Even if you're the quiet type of supporter, I can feel your love, and I'm thanking you for sending out your positive energy.  I would like to thank my surgery family, for making fun of some of my posts, like the "yakult cupcake".  At least I know you read the blog. Haha, Thank you to my readers, for giving me ideas whenever I have a writer's block.  Thank you to my family for being the few firsts who clicks on my blog posts,  for letting me travel so I can have memorable experiences and blog about it here.  I can't thank all, but as you're reading this, thank you very much!

Merry Christmas!!! May God Bless you and your Family! 😘
