MISTI Dupe

When I saw the MISTI stamping tool on youtube, I was really amazed by it! I mean the one who invented it is a genius! Finally a tool that solves a problem in stamping, doubling or shadowing of the image when you try to stamp it again.

Unfortunately, this amazing tool is not available in the Philippines.  So I searched for a dupe and I found this.  This idea is not mine, I saw this in youtube from another crafter.  But hey, this is something I could find here.

This tool actually cost me only Php 100.

Creative Journaling

I've been journaling since I was in college, actually I think even as early as high school.  I love buying cute notebooks and I write my diary using different colored pens.  There was actually a point in time when I went into depression and thanks to our college guidance counselor, she suggested journaling as a way for one to get out of depression.  I also had a dream journal. During that time wherein I would write what happened in my dream and would interpret them.

Sticker Storage Tutorial

I just suddenly realized today that I made 2 posts of the same content, the Sticker sheet Tutorial.  Anyways, I just retracted the latest post, haha... lapse on my memory I guess.

Still related to stickers, because I'm into creative / kawaii journaling lately.

For this tutorial I'm almost using exclusive Muji products, this post however is not sponsored by Muji.  There maybe cheaper alternatives, but I just prefer the size of this and I felt Muji products are more available.

Sticker Sheet Tutorial

I'm into photojournaling lately and I'm kind of addicted to stickers.  I'm sticking them in my planners, bullet journals and journal. I guess I'm kind of  forcing myself to look into other things and not focus on all the negative things my mind is replaying in my head over and over.  Journaling kind of tries to force my mind away from it.

And so I've been buying lots of stickers, in fact I'm kind of looking for a sticker album.  I remembered when I was in gradeschool, I have 1 notebook filled with shiny pages, those pages were similar to the back of a sticker paper.  And I place my stickers in it, and we even exchanged notebooks with my friend.  I'm kind of looking for it again... If you any place or online store that sells these types of notebooks, please comment below.

So I bought lots of sticker flakes and sometimes it's just irritating since it's difficult to remove the back of the sticker... So I thought of putting those sticker flakes into something so it'll be easier to remove by the time when I needed it.

Let's get on with this simple tutorial:

Giraffe Body Painting - 1st Time Experience

Just finished crying, I couldn't write a blog just a while ago, but after I've found composure decided to write something to lift my spirits up at least just a little.

I've written that one of the induction to PUA as an incoming urology resident is Body Painting.  Here's my experience as the contestant.  Now, I'm sharing the experience, as the painter.  This is my first time doing body painting.  With no experience, without studying about it, just do it, "Bahala na si Batman".

So I was requested by my junior to help him out in his body paint.  I didn't agree at first, well because I've been so tired lately.  I felt blank, unmotivated, tired etc...  Eventually, after around 3 days since he requested, I somehow was able to recover so I found myself in front of his poster paints.

Warning though, DO NOT USE Poster Paints to your skin.  There's a reason why there's such a thing as body paint.  Poster paints were not made to be placed on your skin.  But these were just the paints bought by my junior so I have no choice anyways but to use them.

So below were the materials: yellow, brown and black poster paints, paint brushes, bowls and makeup sponges.

Otterly Beautiful Day - Shaker Card

I'm starting my birthday month with spreading happiness.  Hope I can have the time to push this through.  February was a sad month for me.  I guess I just have to counteract this negativity for some time.

Starting with very cute otters!  This was my first time to use Copic Markers, I think I have to have some learning curve using these markers, even knowing about the proper paper.

Craft of the Day - Get Well Soon Owl Card

As I went home, I saw my old color pencils, and thought, I missed working with them. I think the last time I used them was when I was still in highschool.

So I grabbed them and tried a craft for it. My mom saw me,
"Ano ginagawa mo?" (What are you doing?)
"Nagcocolor" (coloring)
"Maniwala ako sayo, hindi ka mabait para magcolor lang, may gagawin ka pa diyan" (I don't believe you, you're not that behaved to just color, you'll do something else with it)

Hahaha
That's what they say, you're mom knows you too well.

Materials I used for this project:
Faber-Castell watercolour pencils
Cardstock: cream, pink, red
Artline pigment ink 0.2 black
Glue tape
Cutter
Q-tips
Water
Eraser
Printer

1. First I printed out an owl image from the net. (Drawing is not one of my talents and rubber stamps are not available as of the moment)
2. I colored the image with watercolor pencils
3. After finishing the image, I used a Q-tip wet with water and smudge the watercolor pencils.

4. Then I cut out scalloped rectangle to mount the owl and flag from red cardstock

5. And stick them all together. Put your message and drew some corner swirls using artline pen. And here's the finished product!

Craft of the Day - Ombre Hot Air Balloon

I'm crazy over ombre lately, & you can see it in my pinterest activity wherein I've created a new board just for ombre.  Now I'm into coloring with colored pencils, so I kind of look for pictures over the net that I can color and incorporate them into a handmade card.

Thanks to the internet & printers, I printed out these images and incorporate them to my project.  Here in the Philippines, beautiful rubber stamps are hard to find, unlike in the other countries, plus they're expensive.  So I tried printing instead then color it in.

For some reason I really love hot air balloons, haven't seen a real one but I really love the idea of it & I love using it in my crafts.

So now I decided to just combine the two in a card.

Materials I used in this project:

  • colored pencils
  • cardstock
  • glue tape
  • printer
  • artline pen 0.2 black
1. Let's start with a print out of hot air balloon in a colored cardstock.
2. I colored in the spaces using classic colored pencils
3. I traced in the outline again with black artline pen.

4. I colored the background with green ombre some more! (Really crazy over ombre)

Craft of the Day - friends scrapbook page

My last entry to my almost abandoned scrapbook was 2011. That's really a long time. I went home from a 48 hour duty and after sleeping, I decided that why not do something crafty. Then I went into my room and saw my traditional scrapbooks.  Smile and nostalgia came to me as I flipped through the pages of it. So I decided to make a quick page with all materials available.

I think I was out of the scrapbook craft for a tome that it was kind of easy for me to pick of a theme for this page: friendship. Maybe My craft juices have already piled up. Mu scrapbooking skills were a little rusty but who cares anyways as long as i was able to express myself. I think I have to return to journaling, It's nice to remember special events, persons in your life.

This page, I dedicate to hanelei and avegail. Til next crafting!

Coloring on Canvas Bag

My mom gave me blank canvas bags =D. At first, I don't know what to do with it.  At first I thought of needle felting embroidery into it, but I'm kind of scared since the fabric is hard, my felting needle might break.

As I was searching through the internet, I discovered Pentel Fabric Fun Dye sticks, & what's even better is that it's available here in the Philippines!!!  So I searched to several branches of National bookstore & bought one.  Then I thought what will I draw? I'm not good at drawing that's for sure, it not one of my talents.

Anyways, I'm running out of time, my pre-residency is about to start, so I have to make something, or I won't be able to make crafts again for another whole year.

So I thought, what would be my favorite quote? One of my favorites is "keep moving forward" from Meet the Robinsons.  So I thought I'd make that.
I soooo muuucchh looovvveee iiiiittttt!!!!!!!!

Craft of the Day: Tape Labels Tutorial

My dad asked me to record his songs into usb flashdrives, separating the english songs from the chinese songs.  I recently gave him a gadget where he can play use usb flashdrives to play music in his car.  He was very fascinated by it =D

Anyways, I bought him 2 new usb flashdrives for his consumption.  They both look the same, so it'll just be proper to label each of the flashdrives.  I thought of making labels using washi tapes.  But I don't have washi tapes right now, & as my challenge I'm not supposed to buy new craft materials, only use materials I currently have at home.

Today I'll be showing you how I made these tape labels, improvising, making my own "washi" tape.

Materials you'll need for this project are:
  • Scissors,
  • old notepad or any decorative paper,
  • double-sided tape
  • scotch tape.

First, you'll choose which part of the notepad you'd want to incorporate into your labels, I chose the dotted  border on the sides of this used notepad.

Turn the paper, wrong side up.  Then get your double sided tape & run across the back of the design of the paper you chose. Then cut the double sided tape.  Cut the excess paper.
Write your label on the right side.  Put scotch tape on top to protect the ink. Cut to desired size & place it on you usb =D

Feathered Headband

Yesterday was one of those days, when I woke up & all I want to do is craft.  My craft soul is screaming, "if I can't get hold of a glue gun today, I'll die!!!!" hehe.  I really didn't care if my craft project would be nice or not, would be functional or not, all I care a bout is to do a project using a glue gun. =D

So I got all my materials.

& here's my Finsihed product

Craft of the Day: Iced Coffee

Good morning sunday everyone! I saw a can of whipped cream at home, so I figured why not start the day with homemade iced coffee =D
It tasted good with the starbucks frapp caramel alone with ice, but it tasted better when I mixed the whipped cream.  I don't have chocolate syrup so I just sprinkled some Ovaltine powdered drink on top as garnish hehe.

Good morning everyone!

Craft of the Day: Egg Salad Sandwich

I was switching channels when I came across, Everyday Food from Lifestyle Network yesterday.  This is the first time I've watched this so I took it a shot.  I honestly don't know how to cook.  In fact, I'm scared of frying, because of the hot oil splatters.  Anyways, this morning I woke up early, 4:30 am, & since I couldn't go back to sleep, I guess I can make myself a breakfast.

The particular food that caught my eye is when they said that you can make the perfect hard boiled egg. The show made the perfect hard boiled egg & made an egg salad.

Digital Scrapbook: Lucky Me

Obviously, my brain refuses to suck in any additional information in studying for the board exams.  So I thought of doing a scrapbook page... (Didn't see the connection either hahahaha).  I'm dedicating this page to my mentor in IM internship rotation.  Dr. Cuenza =D

Craft of the Day (7/13/12): New look!

I've been wanting to change my layout for a while, but since I'm busy, didn't have the time.  Anyways I tried to make my layout as simple as possible.  Well.. so it's easier to edit! I don't have time to study & understand the codes of blogger yet as I did in Multiply themes.
