Korea Trip Winter OOTD

This is some kind of a new type of content for the blog. I love posting ootd in my personal facebook account.  Posting it there was for no reason, just showing my love for dresses, clothes and dressing up.  So transferring some of it to a blog, I don't know how it will do but whatever, this blog is supposed to be something I want to post anyways.

To give you a brief overview, I'm a size L-XL usually or UK 10-12 depending the brand, US 38-40.  Anyways you get the picture, I don't have the body of the model 👅.  Also I went on a trip on the last week of November.  So the weather in Korea is already winter, with daily temperature of 1- 8 degrees celsius.

Let's begin:

On my way from the Philippines to Seoul (so from tropical climate to winter climate)

In this picture, I'm wearing:
  • Mango long sleeves top - I got this from Ivan, (chosen by Tita Cecile of course) as an anniversary gift.  This is in M by the way, which I usually don't fit, but turned out it kind of fit anyways.
  • Divisoria Checkered Pants - This are one of my old pants that I have, in size L, I love travelling with this because of the zipper pockets.
  • Nike Rubber Shoes - I only have 2 rubber shoes, the other pair replica Nike of neon orange color, and this one, black Nike shoes.  I really prefer rubber shoes in travelling, because it's just comfortable and ok for walking long walks

Also in the hand-carry the thermal top, pants, gloves, scarf, jacket were stored, in case I was not able to tolerate the cold weather upon arrival in Korea.

Kimono Experience

This is one of my bucket-list, to be able to wear a kimono in Japan.  Actually in my trip to Japan, this is the one I'm most excited about.  As long as I'm able to do this then I couldn't ask for more.  Luckily Japan has made it easy for tourists to rent kimono.

I booked online for my kimono, I reserved and scheduled for a kimono in Wargo Kyoto Tower branch.  I knew about this from Kimdao, one of my favorite youtubers.  Well actually I kind of followed her suggestions on things to do in Japan.  That's how much I love her!

So let's begin the kimono wearing process.

At first, through online, I got the couple standard kimono package, with additional of fixing my hair.  I didn't get the makeup add-on since I think I'm happy with my makeup skills hahahaha.  Besides, my focus is the kimono anyways.  As I was browsing online and deciding for the date and time of the kimono, I asked my dad if he wanted to wear one too.  I'm really lucky that agreed with my craziness.  #cooldad, hehe.

So after paying through credit card, we just arrived at the Kyoto Tower station around 30 min before our schedule.  And with standard kimono, I was asked to choose from 4 shelves standard kimonos.  Then they asked me to choose from the Obi? (belt thingy I think).  After choosing, I was asked to go inside the female dressing room (no pics, it was forbidden to take pictures inside).  There I think I wore like 4 internal clothes before wearing the outside kimono.  Lots of tying around, no wonder they don't allow pregnants in there, the wrap around was really tight.
PS: My dad took a huge part in the selection of kimono process, he said, "You definitely have to wear red. Mas maganda sa picture." Hahaha.

Rockwell The Next Big Thing Bazaar

I went to powerplant mall rockwell bazaar today.  Break from my studying for the board exams.  This year's next big thing has less participants than last year.  Well maybe it's because this year, there are other conventions also like toycons, & other bazaars held.  So the sellers are dispersed.  Second, I think last year was around august, near christmas, so more sellers & buyers.

Anyways, going to rockwell, first time I commuted to powerplant mall.  It was exciting actually, feeling of a little adventure.  What happened though, I realized how kind Filipinos are.  We asked the police officer for directions, we asked to jeepney driver to tell us when to drop off, my seatmate on jeep was also so kind, asking the driver to stop when we're near powerplant rockwell already (I didn't even ask for his help.  He was so KIND!!)

I was armed with um... like P2500 charging through this bazaar.  I know... I should bring more money.. haha, but I'm saving, & to prevent me from spending all of my savings.  Anyways here are the things I bought.
I'm a really big fan of style on air! Everytime I visit bazaars I always ended up buying from her (the owner is korean).  The kokeshi doll brooch on the lower left end by the way was from Shmily. I'm supposed to buy more from Shmily but I kind of forgot what I was looking for before when I visited  her online shop.

I also bought Rose Salve for my mom
I remembered that my mom loves this, so I bought one for her. Time to finish my craft projects. Til next time =D

Cosa Nostra Headdress

We're having our Intern's Party tomorrow.  It's a themed party, Mafia/1920s fashion etc etc.  This will be the ONLY intern's party I will be able to attend to.  Well the other parties? They're usually on the date I'm ON DUTY so no choice but to stay in the hospital.  Anyways I'm excited for tomorrow.

I think that I won't be buying a dress for the party, well, because I think that flapper dress is not my really type of fashion.  So I don't think that it will be practical for me to buy the flapper dress just for 1 event.  I'll just look into my old wardrobe & work with it.  Hehe, I'll be posting the pictures tomorrow.  Right now I'm from duty, so I couldn't detail what I'll be wearing tomorrow. Just watch out for the full get up.

I was 1/2 day today, luckily! So I stopped by at Trinoma to look for any accessory for the party.  I'll just invest on accessories since I won't be spending on the dress anyways.  Well I searched through landmark, I was tired, & I only have limited time to snoop around.  I bought a hairclip, & I was looking for feathers but no feather inspired accessory fit for me.  Luckily I was able to find a pair of earrings w/ feathers that have the right length that I want to.

So.... I converted the earrings etc etc, scrap ribbons, etc etc, my scrap here at home & here's my finished product

I'll tell you the details of how I made this later... right now I'm sleepy, 'til next time!

Fathers know best

The saying goes for mothers know best.  But has it occurred that sometimes, fathers knows best too? Especially to fashion???

Well my dad does! Ever since I was a little kid, if I really really like a dress, I would drag my dad to the store & then try on the dress, then I'll show it to him, then he will comment on it.  If he liked it then there's a guarantee that I will always wear it & the 'look'will stand through time & never goes out of style.  I wish I have that gift you know.

Here's me wearing my dad's gift for me on my birthday.
Dress: Folded & Hung, Belt: Folded & Hung

I really like it.

Amateur Fashion Blogging

I envy the other blogs where they have really nice pictures & great fashion sense in posting their sense of style in their blogs.  Isn't it nice how people express their creativity in different ways??

Yellow knitted top from Wanko, Floral top from Mind Code, Skirt from Esprit, Belt from Divisoria, Necklace & Earring set from Robinson's Place

I just took these out from my old rack.  Most of my clothes are hand-me downs from my aunt. Most of her clothes are from Singapore.

PS: Pics from my mobile phone, didn't have time to take out my old digital camera.
