Apple Bunny Bento

Holy week just passed by, and rabbits and bunnies are everywhere as they're symbols of the Easter.  In the Rise of the Guardians, the Easter Bunny is the Guardian of Hope. Well I'm starting this April with something related to bunny.

Someone just kept bugging me "I want bento....~", "I want bent~to~". And being someone who doesn't know how to cook, of course I'm cheating! haha

Here's how I did my "cheat" bento 😆

Lemon Yakult Hack

I would like to thank Ezra for this idea for my artsymed post.  Even if this was all around youtube (as I've just recently discovered), I only discovered this as I was thinking of doing this post.

I like drinking the Lemon Yakult, we had near in UST.  Sometimes you just want something refreshing to drink.  But it's kind of expensive for a student, at P69 for a drink.  So if you're on a budget but still on the crave of drinking this, here's a cheaper alternative.  But not as healthy though as the real thing.

Dorm Cooking - Convenience Store Cocktail

Have you ever experienced having a bad day and sometimes you just want to have a drink but it's in the middle of the week and you can't ask someone else to have a drink with you and you just end up drinking alone?

Or just having one of those days when you just want to have a drink alone trying to forget your bad day?

One of our GS consultants visited our staffroom and asked us if I like soju, and I said I tried it once and I don't like the taste of it.  And he said to me, don't take the plain soju, you should try the flavored soju, it tastes better.

And I was happy to see flavored soju in the convenience store.

Dorm Cooking - Overnight Oatmeal Breakfast

Sometimes when you leave in a dormitory, where you don't have a stove to cook your meals, you're forced to be creative with your meals.  Here in this recipe, I'm using ingredients from a convenience store since I live really close to a convenience store.  I don't know if this is called a challenge, but maybe??

Fishball Noodles - Dorm Cooking

I saw the ramen bar inside 7-11 & I thought it was a great idea to combine the fishballs in instant ramen.  But it's kind of expensive, P15 per topping.

Here's a cheaper way of eating Fishball Ramen.

You start with buying fishballs from the street vendor.
Then you cook your noodles in 1 1/2 cup of water in a microwave safe bowl for 2 minutes, then stir then pop it back to microwave for another 1 minute.
Drop your fishballs in your noodes & enjoy!

Mason Jar Cooking

I recently bought mason jars as a container for a gift. I just bought extra for me. As I was thinking what to do with my new mason jar other than drinking coffee or tea with it, I thought I could incorporate dorm cooking into it.

Let's start with strawberry yogurt oatmeal.

Ingredients:
Yogurt drink
Instant oatmeal

1. Pour in the yogurt drink over the instant oatmeal.
2. Mix
3. Refrigerate overnight
4. Pop into your microwave

The oatmeal smelled really good! And it tasted great!

Our second recipe is for
Pata Noodles

Ingredients
Left-over crispy pata
Instant miso soup mix
Egg noodles
Lettuce

1.  Cook your egg noodles in your mason jar 1/2 filled with water in your microwave at medium heat for 3 minutes.
2. Pour in your miso soup mix and mix well
3. Put your pata cut into strips and your chopped lettuce
4. Place in microwave for 1 minute
5. Enjoy!

Earl Grey Chocolate Microwave Doughnuts - Dorm Cooking

I just recently bought a doughnut mold from Daiso Japan store that's microwavable! There are really lots of goodies in daiso and saizen! Which is why I really love that store!

Time to put this into test. Most of the youtube tutorials I found, use it as a pancake mold. But I don't have a pancake mix right now here in my dorm. I've got some leftovers though from my chocolate chip mug cake experiment before.

Here goes...
Ingredients:
4 tablespoon all purpose flour
4 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 egg
3 tablespoon oil
3 tablespoon chocolate chip
2 tablespoon milk
1 tablespoon earl grey tea

1. In a bowl combine all purpose flour, sugar, coca powder and mix well.
2. Add 1 egg to the dry ingredients and mix well.
3. Add oil and milk and earl grey tea and mix well until you have smooth mixture.
4. Pour amounts of the batter into the molds only up to the line indicated in the molds (approximately 5mL)
5. Put in microwave and bake for 1 min on medium heat.
6. Put out of microwave, it should come out easily.
Enjoy!

Yakult Cupcake - Dorm Cooking

The moment I saw the yakult cupcakes from Bakehappy, I've been itching to try her shortcut to making yakult cupcakes.

It's just perfect for snacks in the dorm, and really easy to prepare.

Ingredients:
Cupcake or mamon
Yakult

Serves 1

1. Stab your cupcakes with your fork
2. Pour yakult over your cupcake.
3. Wait for a minute to let the cupcake absorb the yakult. For this small cupcake I used 1/2 of yakult.
4. Enjoy your yakult cupcake!

Dorm Cooking - Oreo Yogurt Parfait

In every resident or intern's life, there will come to a point when you need to eat and there's not much of choices of food except the 24 hour jollibee or mcdonald's . But what if you want to try something new for a change.

I'm starting this new segment on my blog, Dorm Cooking. This is for those people like me, never went near the stove, and is only learning to cook now because of necessity. Since I'm living alone in the dormitory with only microwave, small rice cooker, oven toaster, fridge around.

Ingredients would mainly come from either supermarket or 7-11 (since 7-11 is the closest convenient store near me).

Let's start something simple today. Oreo yogurt parfait.

Ingredients:
1 pack of three oreo cookies
1 snack size yogurt

1. Crush the oreos with your fingers while the pack is not yet opened. So as not to make a mess.
2. Pour the some crushed oreos into a glass.
3. Put some yogurt into the glass.
4. Layer the oreos and yogurt alternately.
Enjoy this simple snack!
