MISTI Dupe

When I saw the MISTI stamping tool on youtube, I was really amazed by it! I mean the one who invented it is a genius! Finally a tool that solves a problem in stamping, doubling or shadowing of the image when you try to stamp it again.

Unfortunately, this amazing tool is not available in the Philippines.  So I searched for a dupe and I found this.  This idea is not mine, I saw this in youtube from another crafter.  But hey, this is something I could find here.

This tool actually cost me only Php 100.

Achieving the Dream: Take Me Back to Michael's

Since med school days, I've always wanted to be able to visit this store.  I came to know about it since grade school days, I've watched American craft shows and this store is always mentioned to where you can get your materials and supplies.

As a kid, I've always wished there's something like this one in the Philippines, actually there was one before, I think the name was Craft World, I would go to Robinson's Galleria and SM Megamall just to go to that store.  Sadly it closed down already.

Actually I did not dream of going to Michael's until med school days.  I mean, in gradeschool and high school days, I never fully posted or put into words that I wanted to visit Michael's store.  My desire to visit the place started 2012, med school days.  I posted in social media that I wanted to visit it someday and I wanted something like this in the Philippines.

So last May 2018, when I visited San Francisco, I made it a point to include this in my itinerary.  We checked in a hotel in Union Square, and the branch closest was in Emeryville.  So using Moovit app and uber, we were able to reach this place.

I was really happy and with a feeling of accomplishment when I reached the storefront.  And when I entered the store, OMG! I was in Craft Heaven!!!!  I never thought there were so much types of crafts in the world.  Everything is just there! It's "THE ONE"-stop shop for your craft needs.

There's just this overwhelming joy I can't fully explain.  I bought lots of paper crafts there.  I would have bought some needle-felting also if only I did not restrain myself.  If only I was not worried of having our luggages overweight, I would have bought some craft tools as well.

Below is a picture of my Michael's Haul:

I loved that there were soccer-related stuffs there, I just hoarded!!!  Right now, I haven't used all of it, little by little, tinitipid since it was a really long way there and my 1st time shopping there.

Bucket list checked.

Hope I can achieve more of my dreams.  Dreams are not just for the your younger self, not just in the Disney movies and cartoons.  Even if you're already in Med school you can still dream and even if it took me 6 years I was able to achieve it nevertheless.  And this feeling of achievement is just irreplaceable.

Never stop dreaming, never stop believing.

Sticker Storage Tutorial

I just suddenly realized today that I made 2 posts of the same content, the Sticker sheet Tutorial.  Anyways, I just retracted the latest post, haha... lapse on my memory I guess.

Still related to stickers, because I'm into creative / kawaii journaling lately.

For this tutorial I'm almost using exclusive Muji products, this post however is not sponsored by Muji.  There maybe cheaper alternatives, but I just prefer the size of this and I felt Muji products are more available.

Craft of the Day - Get Well Soon Owl Card

As I went home, I saw my old color pencils, and thought, I missed working with them. I think the last time I used them was when I was still in highschool.

So I grabbed them and tried a craft for it. My mom saw me,
"Ano ginagawa mo?" (What are you doing?)
"Nagcocolor" (coloring)
"Maniwala ako sayo, hindi ka mabait para magcolor lang, may gagawin ka pa diyan" (I don't believe you, you're not that behaved to just color, you'll do something else with it)

Hahaha
That's what they say, you're mom knows you too well.

Materials I used for this project:
Faber-Castell watercolour pencils
Cardstock: cream, pink, red
Artline pigment ink 0.2 black
Glue tape
Cutter
Q-tips
Water
Eraser
Printer

1. First I printed out an owl image from the net. (Drawing is not one of my talents and rubber stamps are not available as of the moment)
2. I colored the image with watercolor pencils
3. After finishing the image, I used a Q-tip wet with water and smudge the watercolor pencils.

4. Then I cut out scalloped rectangle to mount the owl and flag from red cardstock

5. And stick them all together. Put your message and drew some corner swirls using artline pen. And here's the finished product!

Craft of the Day - Ombre Hot Air Balloon

I'm crazy over ombre lately, & you can see it in my pinterest activity wherein I've created a new board just for ombre.  Now I'm into coloring with colored pencils, so I kind of look for pictures over the net that I can color and incorporate them into a handmade card.

Thanks to the internet & printers, I printed out these images and incorporate them to my project.  Here in the Philippines, beautiful rubber stamps are hard to find, unlike in the other countries, plus they're expensive.  So I tried printing instead then color it in.

For some reason I really love hot air balloons, haven't seen a real one but I really love the idea of it & I love using it in my crafts.

So now I decided to just combine the two in a card.

Materials I used in this project:

  • colored pencils
  • cardstock
  • glue tape
  • printer
  • artline pen 0.2 black
1. Let's start with a print out of hot air balloon in a colored cardstock.
2. I colored in the spaces using classic colored pencils
3. I traced in the outline again with black artline pen.

4. I colored the background with green ombre some more! (Really crazy over ombre)

til next crafting! =D
