Rebuilding Yourself in your own Dorm

2016 broke me down and I had decided to dedicate 2017 to focus on rebuilding myself.  I figured I couldn't advance in my career if I'm so broken inside.  I'm an introvert type of person, so all the steps here are things that you can do alone in your own dormitory.  I'm not the type who will leave everything in the name of "soul-searching".  I'm not that courageous.

  • Pick an Art you Enjoy
For people who know me way beyond since high school, art and crafting has been with me ever since: from scrapbooking, webdesigning, making illustrations, cross-stitch, needle-felting, you name it.  I wasn't serious with card-making before but just the occasional birthday cards to my parents.  But this time, I decided to choose this for 2017 as my creative outlet, because all you need are papers, cardboard, pencil, scissors, pens and glue and you can make a card already.  These things you can easily find in bookstores or your home.

I love that the cards can bring joy to the person who receives it.  Always remember though that the true essence of the card is to bring joy and happiness to the person who receives it.  Do not write a message in the card that can cause sadness to the person.  There's another medium for that...

  • Listen to your Favorite Music
Music can just lift your spirit up.  So listen to your favorite songs no matter if it's something you can't understand (e.g. CPOP, KPOP, JPOP)

PS: Super Junior can just lift my spirits up anytime!

  • Journaling
I currently have 3 journals as of the moment.
  1. Thoughts journal - here I write everything I want, happiness, sadness, heartaches, gratitude etc, this is also where I rant.
  2. Happiness journal - this is my happiness notebook, it contains anything that makes me happy, quotes, events, experiences, success
  3. Bullet journal - this is something I just started this year, it's where I put my notes on what to write on my blog, tracker of my self-development activities, happiness tracker, budget tracker, achievement tracker etc.
Here's a sample page from my Happiness Journal, containing one of my favorite scenes from Mulan.  There's just something that her father said that really gets to me.

  • Makeup - I've dedicated an entire blog post for this, and how makeup has helped me.
  • Blogging - I called this the Blog Project.  I also dedicated an entire post for this.
  • Audiobook/Book
In one of my conferences, one of my consultants commented that I should read an english book to improve my delivery of the english language (which I tend to suck at especially when I speak in front of people).  I've read lots of inspirational books but sometimes I feel guilty though because you get to finish another book and you cannot even finish your Campbell Urology book.  So I compensate by listening to audiobooks instead.  Because I can listen to these audiobooks even when I'm in the shower! How great is that?!

Here are just some of books I recommend (not in particular order):
  1. The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
  2. The Kindness Pact by Domonique Bertolucci
  3. Hector and the Search for Happiness by Francois Lelord
  4. Hector and the Secrets of Love by Francois Lelord
  5. Hector finds Time by Francois Lelord
  6. The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma
  7. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
Audiobook Recommendations
  1. The Power by Rhonda Byrne
  2. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo
  3. Key to Living the Law of Attraction by Jack Canfield
  • Youtube!
There's just a lot of positivity in this community.  You can listen to inspirational speakers and youtubers which can help you.  These youtubers have helped me in having a clearer view of what's important in my rebuilding journey.

PS: To the people who helped me recover, who've seen me cry, who've seen my get frustated.  Thank you for being there for me, for giving a piece of your positive energy.

Happy New Year to Everyone!!!!
