The Little Prince Themed Party

We were invited to a themed birthday party.  I love themed parties because there's an artistic and crafty aspect to it.

This post is to give inspirations to others who are planning to have a "The Little Prince" Themed party.  Elements here may give you an idea on how to decorate your party.

Let's begin with the room decorations:

When I hear the little prince theme, I thought the color scheme will be majority green.  But I was surprised to see blue themed party.  And it turned out well actually, maybe better.

The centerstage backpiece was really great! I especially love the glittery effect.  It made the stage really extravagant!

Learning from a Baby

Today is my birthday, on a Sunday and luckily not on duty.  I originally planned on spending time with my family, probably lunch.  We already picked out a restaurant, and this will be a triple celebration for my younger sister's birthday and my dad's birthday as well.

But all the plans crumbled down when I was told by my senior, that we have to attend the PURA Strategic Planning.  Of course I can no longer control or predict my time since I have no idea how long the planning will be.  So we just cancelled our plans and wait til further notice before organizing the next family time.

So I was sad, I'm to spend my time away from my loved ones on my special day.
We attended the Strategic Planning in Subic, Saturday night.  The planning went on smoothly.

Morning came of my birthday and I woke up earlier than the others.  And I stepped out of my room and walked around, still feeling lonely without my loved ones.

As I was walking I saw a mother with a baby.  We'll call the baby, Baby Joaquin.  I approached them and said good morning po and played with Baby Joaquin.  Baby Joaquin is a friendly baby, he did not cry when I carried him.

Happy Birthday to Me

I celebrated my birthday last March 12.  Since residency, I always celebrate my birthday in the hospital.  It's not that bad actually, because you're together with your co-residents.  I usually ask my sister or my mom to deliver food in the hospital to celebrate my birthday with my consultants.  This is the time when they get a taste of my sister's blueberry cheesecake which I really love and so far no blueberry cheesecake has won over it, and also her delicious cupcakes.

This year, I decided to celebrate differently.  Well I got not much of a choice anyways, my birthday fell on a saturday, and saturdays are what we residents call as "Bolong Day" meaning, this is the day when most of Dr Bolong's Surgeries are done.  So I was in the OR since 2pm until 7pm.  In the morning, I attended a research workshop until 12nn then I headed back to UST for the surgeries.

It was a busy day, the CD residents are worried over a toxic post-op patient.  Pay Uro residents are all in the Operating room.  I'm not expecting any special treatment or celebration.  In fact, I wasn't announcing that it was my birthday since I don't have food to offer the people.

I was thinking that no one will remember.  Who am I anyways for people to remember my birthday.  So I decided to give myself gift/s so that somehow I'll be happy and opening presents.

Korean Makeup Of Course!

But this year's birthday is full of surprises....

  1. With the advent of Facebook.  I think, around more than 100 people greeted me happy birthday, which I truly appreciate.  I didn't expect them to know.
  2. I was surprised also to receive tops and pillow case from my parents.
  3. I was surprised to get something from my co-residents, a cake! I didn't expect that guys would remember these things.

4. The best surprised came also....

It was so sweet of him to surprise me with 3 purple tulips, even if he's on duty.

I felt so special on my birthday!

Happy Birthday Dr. Olalia

You'll know when you're loved by your students, when during your special dday, you'll receive lots of token of appreciation & love.  As exemplified by one of my favorite GS consultants, Dr. Olalia.  I think we feel his fatherly love and he shares his knowledge of life and surgery to us without any constraints.

I personally could feel his fatherly love to us residents, and I'm very much thankful that I've met him and  that he's always more than willing to teach us not only in surgery but in life as well.

I think this picture says enough on how much he is loved by his students
And if you're not convinced, just see how many cakes he received, not only one but three! plus cupcakes!

On behalf of the surgery residents, WE LOVE YOU DR OLALIA!

Box Card

In life, you would meet someone who would make a big impact to your life.  When you meet that someone, you should take advantage of it and enjoy every minute you're with him.  I kind of sounded like someone in love.

Love can be expressed in lots of ways, to your special someone, to your relatives, to your teacher, trainer, friends etc.

Such as this time, since I'm itching to try out the new paper goodies I just bought & at the same time, I thought of what's the best way to express how I feel for someone in an artform.  What words can't fully expressed, I think you can express it in art or in action.

So I thought the best way to express this to is to one of my favorite consultants, Dr. Olalia! And the way I thought I could express it is through a card, a box card.  The moment I saw it in the internet, I fell in love with the idea and I think today is the best time to make it.

I love the way it turned out! Fully personalized!

And I think Doc O loved it!

Happy birthday doc!!!

Happy birthday Dr Abes!

Actually, the real date of birthday of Dr. abes is June 15, 2014. I wasn't aware of when was his real birthday so I wasn't able to greet him that day. Everyone was busy that day and the other residents forgot also. Oh no! We have to make up for it! We all felt guilty that we forgot his special day.

Dr Abes I think is the most senior consultant in the Surgery Department, and though he was a 'terror' mentor before during his younger days, I admire still his passion for teaching.

I admire that he would still go to our conferences to share his knowledge & to challenge us with his questions. I admire that he would still do surgeries deite his age. i admire that he is open to new ideas and that he would at the same time share his traditional ways which sometimes wpuld really help your management of patients in special cases and whenever they're financially constrained.

In other words, WE LOVE DR ABES!!!

We ate at Chicken Inasal ng Bacolod near The Medical City. It's kind of weird that UST surgery residents would all go to medical city just to eat at chicken inasal, but that's where our birthday celebrant wished to go. So there we will go.

I love the food by the way hehe and Grey Goose of course. Also I think the cake we ordered was just right for him. Even at an expensive price, I think it's worth it, especially if it's customized just for the person whom had a special place all in our hearts.

Hooray for birthday

I forgot to post this hahaha.  I'm "from" on my birthday.  So my breakfast? PANCAKES of course! & I only eat mcdo pancakes, I don't like jollibee pancakes.
So let's start celebrating my birthday with:

To my surprise, their now using the carton instead of the styro, well they're more environmental-friendly now.
Yum yum! But I still personally like eating in the styro (sorry if not environmental-friendly), but it's because it's more palatable/attractive to eat the pancakes against a white background isn't it?
