Kimono Experience

This is one of my bucket-list, to be able to wear a kimono in Japan.  Actually in my trip to Japan, this is the one I'm most excited about.  As long as I'm able to do this then I couldn't ask for more.  Luckily Japan has made it easy for tourists to rent kimono.

I booked online for my kimono, I reserved and scheduled for a kimono in Wargo Kyoto Tower branch.  I knew about this from Kimdao, one of my favorite youtubers.  Well actually I kind of followed her suggestions on things to do in Japan.  That's how much I love her!

So let's begin the kimono wearing process.

At first, through online, I got the couple standard kimono package, with additional of fixing my hair.  I didn't get the makeup add-on since I think I'm happy with my makeup skills hahahaha.  Besides, my focus is the kimono anyways.  As I was browsing online and deciding for the date and time of the kimono, I asked my dad if he wanted to wear one too.  I'm really lucky that agreed with my craziness.  #cooldad, hehe.

So after paying through credit card, we just arrived at the Kyoto Tower station around 30 min before our schedule.  And with standard kimono, I was asked to choose from 4 shelves standard kimonos.  Then they asked me to choose from the Obi? (belt thingy I think).  After choosing, I was asked to go inside the female dressing room (no pics, it was forbidden to take pictures inside).  There I think I wore like 4 internal clothes before wearing the outside kimono.  Lots of tying around, no wonder they don't allow pregnants in there, the wrap around was really tight.  

PS: My dad took a huge part in the selection of kimono process, he said, "You definitely have to wear red. Mas maganda sa picture." Hahaha.

Then after all the inner clothes and lining, I was asked to go into the hairdressing room.  There was mirror with lights, much like in salons.  I was asked to choose from hairstyles printed, according to the price I chose.  I chose from 5 of the standard hairstyles.  Pretty intricate isn't it?

Then there's a free hair accessory to choose from.  I supposedly like to to wear something with a dangling hair accessory but the color did not match my red kimono.  So I just chose this.

Of course since my dad and I were all in this together! How can I not post his kimono?

Our slippers by the way are comfortable than what I expected.  The slippers are like your regular plastic/rubber slippers (sipit).  You can actually walk around with it  comfortably and that's coming from someone who doesn't wear Havianas-like slippers.  I even brought with me my regular slippers but I didn't use it also since I can walk comfortably with the kimono slippers.  Also included in the package is a bag to place your valuables.  They also give you a bag to store your original clothes and bag and they will give you a number for you to claim after you're done exploring in kimono (like a package counter).

So we went to Fushimi Inari Shrine to have a decent background for our photos and of course it's an experience as well to go to a tourist destination wearing kimono.

Also I just discovered there that the sleeves of the kimonos are actually pockets?!

As seen in the picture, the arrows pointed are the "pockets" of the kimono, it actually is spaceous! Able to fit my selfie stick with phone inside one of the sleeves!
