Vegemite Food Challenge / Review

When I went to Australia for the APCC Convention, according to my sister who also went with me, Vegemite is one of the popular Australian product.  But not all want the product and for some reason, Australians love this product.  So we bought one, but unfortunately we were not able to try it while we were in Australia, since I had a busy schedule attending and presenting in the convention.

So when I got back, I tried it the following day in my breakfast, but before I opened it, I looked at youtube videos on other's opinion about it, especially those that were not Australians.  The reviews were a mixture of both good and bad, it's either you like it or you totally despise it.

This is how the inside looks like, it's dark brown with "clay, pasty" consistency.  It smells really salty, like a salty seaweed.

I watched one episode from Jimmy Fallon when Hugh Jackman demonstrated the proper way of eating Vegemite and I just followed him.

Here's what I used in this food review/food try-out:
  • Toast
  • Unsalted Butter
  • A pinch of Vegemite
This does not at all look appetising.  It's like fungus grew on my toast.  Anyways got to try it also.  At first bite, there's like a kick of saltiness into it, and it made the toast taste a little different, you can taste the butter and after it the saltiness of the Vegemite comes in.

For me I like it.  I don't totally love it to the point I'll stack up onto it, but at least I'll eat it when offered to me.
